Walk Day Information

Walk Now for Autism is a family-friendly event so bring the whole family along.  There are activities for the children, resources for families, light refreshments and entertainment.  It is a non-competitive walk of 5k or 3.2 miles around the University of Washington campus that will take place rain or shine! When did a little rain ever hurt us?

University of Washington Dempsey Arena, located just behind Husky stadium off Montlake Blvd.

Time:
Registration opens: 9:00 a.m.
Resource Fair opens: 9:00 a.m.
Walk Start: 10:40 a.m. (Opening ceremony at 10:30)

Parking: Parking is available on Montlake Blvd by Hec Ed for $6.  Park in E-1 and walk down the sidewalk to Dempsey Indoor Arena or take the shuttle or park in E-11 for handicapped near Husky Stadium. 

Activities:  Come enjoy a resource fair, a silent auction with sports memorabilia, bounce houses and slides, face painting, obstacle course, music, sensory stations, a quiet area, fire trucks, and snacks! 

Donations: Walkers should bring their donations and walk sponsor forms with them prior to the start of the walk.  You can also mail them in advance and go through EZ registration or do it all on-line!  Donations can be mailed to Autism Speaks, Donations Dept, 5455 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 2250, Los Angles, CA  90036.  (It can take up to four weeks before donations show on your page.) Raise at least $100 and earn a free t-shirt which you can pick up at the walk.  Raise even more and earn other incentives such as jackets, ipods, etc.  There is no minimum dollar amount required to walk however.  All funds go toward Autism research!

Additional information:

Driving from the Eastside: take hwy. 520 Bridge westbound. Exit at Montlake Blvd, at the end of the exit ramp, turn right and go over the Montlake bridge.  Drive past Husky Stadium and Hec Ed.  Turn right at the driveway to reach E-1 parking.  Pay the $6 parking. Dempsey Center is located behind Hec Ed and Husky Stadium to the north and east.

Driving from the north: Take I-5 southbound, take the NE 45th Street exit (#169).  Turn left onto NE 45th St. Continue east about 4/10 mile to 15th Ave NE and turn right. Head south on 15th ave. about 6 blocks to NE Pacific St.  Turn left onto NE Pacific, staying in the left-hand lane.  Continue east to the first left turn option; the road makes a "Y" at that traffic light intersection.  Turn left onto NE Pacific Place.  Continue a short distance to Montlake Blvd. Cross Montlake Blvd. and enter at the front of Husky Stadium.  Turn right to reach Gate #8.  Pay the $6 parking fee and park in E-1 or E-11 or E-12.  Walk around behind the stadium's northside near Hec Ed to Dempsey Center.

Driving from the south: Take I-5 northbound. Exit at Hwy 520 westbound.  Exit at Montlake Blvd, at the end of the exit ramp, turn left and go over 520 then over the Montlake bridge.  Drive past Husky Stadium and Hec Ed.  Turn right at the driveway to reach E-1 parking.  Pay the $6 parking. Dempsey Center is located behind Hec Ed and Husky Stadium to the north and east.
