This free, movie-themed, family friendly Kickoff Party is for all current and potential walk team captains, walk team members, event sponsors, resource fair vendors, community leaders and anyone who has a passion to fundraise to help fight autism.

There will be a keynote presentation by Mr. Peter Bell.  Peter Bell is the Executive Vice President for Programs and Services at Autism Speaks.  He oversees the foundation's Government Relations and Family Services activities and also serves as an advisor to the Science Division.  Prior to his role at Autism Speaks, Peter Bell was president and CEO of Cure Autism Now, which merged with Autism Speaks in February 2007.  The Kickoff will also include information about the local autism endeavors in and around the Kansas City area, information & materials about the 2008 Kansas City Walk Now For Autism on Saturday, October 18 and much more!

While the presentations are taking place in the main theater, there will be a free showing of the cartoon Tom & Jerry in the adjacent theater for children.  The cartoon environment will be sensory-friendly, as the lights will be dimmed and sound will be lower than a typical movie theater.  We will have trained autism professionals on hand to supervise the children and a communication plan in place to ensure everyone in attendance is comfortable.

Best of all, everyone that attends (either presentation) will receive a free fountain drink and popcorn to truly make this an enjoyable and entertaining event!
