It was a great day!

Thank you to the nearly 6,000 people who joined us at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday, November 14, 2009 for the Dallas/Fort Worth Walk Now for Autism Speaks! What an experience!  All of us celebrating the wonderful people we love who affected by autism.  We had a great day of festivities with over 40 local resource providers and lots of entertainment and food.  To see more photos go to our Facebook page or to see all the photos from the Walk, including your team photos, go to Furst Fotos

Together, we have raised over $325,000, to date! (The donations turned in on Saturday will take up to 4 weeks to show up on-line.) These funds will help Autism Speaks continue our efforts in science, family servicesadvocacy and awareness.

But don't stop there!

We still need your help to reach our goal and donations will continue to be collected. Every dollar you raise can make a huge impact in how quickly we can change the future for individuals and families living with autism.  You may continue to have family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, donate to your team online. Your check donations may be sent to:

Announcing a drawing exclusively for Texas' top fundraisers!

For every $1,000 a Texas participant raises before December 31, 2009, they will be entered in a drawing for a beautiful diamond pendant necklace.  Zales, one of Autism Speaks' national partners, has generously donated a Round Diamond Pendant in 14K White Gold from their Shared Heart Collection as a prize in a this special Texas drawing. And, yes, the money you have already raised counts but keep going! For every $1,000 you raise, you will receive another chance to win this very special necklace!

Need Fundraising Ideas?

Our families need us now more than ever.

But do you feel like you have exhausted all of your asks? No worries. We have found that by sharing your Walk experiences and making your wrap around activities personal and fun, people will give to people. By hosting an activity, such as a $5 pot luck lunch at work, a dress down day, or even an after-hours gathering, people are more than happy to donate their time and energy for our cause.

The sky is the limit on your creativity, but if you need a little help finding quick, easy, and minimal-effort activities, visit the
Autism Speaks Blog for a complete listing.

A new study published October 5, 2009 in the American Academy of Pediatrics' journal Pediatrics found a parent-reported autism prevalence rate of one in every 91 American children, including one in 58 boys.  For more information, click here.
