Wrap Around Fundraising Success Stories:

Corinne & Cameron's Crew Ice Cream Social
 Kansas City, 2009
Raised: $891.50 in 2.5 hours
Piggy-backing on the events of the Johnson County Parade, Corinne and Cameron's Crew used the opportunity to sell ice cream and homemade cobbler to parade watchers. Using Autism Speaks signage to help raise awareness, the team had Walk Now for Autism Speaks materials on hand for distribution and recruitment. The secured local media attention, and raise almost $900 for Walk Now for Autism Speaks.

Pies for a Cure
Los Angeles, 2009
Raised:  $4,000

Our stand was a big success!  We set a date to have a pie stand at the house, created a flyer themed "Pies for a Cure," asked for donations to cover the cost of ingredients, and started spreading the word. People loved the idea and were so responsive that in the end our crew made 73 pies and raised almost $4,000!

Do you have a wrap-around fundraising success story?  After the completion of your event make sure to forward your funds, photos and success story to us at walks@autismspeaks.org.  We can't feature all of our successes here but we will do our best to share new and creative ideas. Perhaps your company's or team's new event will become the "rage" from coast to coast -- another piece of the puzzle for Autism Speaks.

Charitable Tax Receipts
There are many complex and changing regulations around the distribution of charitable tax receipts. This includes donations of money, in-kind items, and services. Issuing an inappropriate charitable tax receipt can put our charitable tax status in jeopardy so please do not promise any kind of receipt to anyone.

Autism Speaks will be responsible for the distribution of charitable receipts in the appropriate circumstances. Just for your information - we can issue tax receipts for donations only if we have the full name and address for each donor and if the donation is made directly to our organization.
