Ben was diagnosed on the spectrum (PDD-NOS is his actual diagnosis) almost 3 years ago. Since then, we have had countless doctors, therapists, tutors, teachers, etc. who have come in and out of our lives, all who have helped make him more comfortable in his own skin. Autism is so complex, and so misunderstood. It has given us far more gifts than challenges; without it, Ben would not be the child he is.
We are hopeful that as knowledge of this complex disorder grows, so will tolerance and understanding. He is a wonderful kid, and so much more than a diagnosis. We can't predict Ben's future, but we know it will be bright, healthy and happy.
