Join us in our efforts to support Walk Now for Autism!
We walk for our beautiful son , Nicholas, who we are blessed to have and who struggles to do things most of us take for granted like communicate, play with friends, and control some of his behaviors.
We are so proud of all the hard work and progress Nicholas has made over the past year. He is doing things that not so long ago seemed impossible, for example Nicholas can now sit through circle time at his school, he now listens to stories being read to him, he now has much more eye contact and is even starting to say hi to people on his own without prompting. However as wonderful as the progress is and despite all his hard work, the reality is Nicholas is significantly behind his peers. And although Nicholas shows us he loves us all in different ways like when he climbs into bed in the middle of the night with his big brother Tommy, when he dances and acts silly with his big sister Maddie, when he can’t get enough of his little brother Lucas who he calls “baby” or when he gives me and his Daddy the biggest hugs and squeezes…..we know Nicholas loves us and we tell him how much we love him all the time but we yearn to hear him say the words “I love you”……. we know someday he will get there. Through all the help of his therapists, teachers, home program, and his loving family Nicholas will continue to make progress, we will never stop looking towards a bright future for our son.
We have all learned so much from Nicholas, life isn’t always easy or fair but with strength, hard work, and lots of love the impossible can become possible! Nicholas is only one of so many children struggling with autism, its not an easy road but with our help and the help of many others, we can help make the road a little less bumpy for all these children who are truly working so hard everyday so hard just to achieve the small things.
We are so thankful to everyone who supported us in the walk last year, words can not express how touched we were by the donations and kind words of support. Please support Nicholas and us as we continue in our fight to defeat autism.
We love you buddy! All our thanks!!!
